After the conclusion of the December show and the holiday party, Rémiel Fontaine wandered down the main hall backstage of the Maxcy Ice Arena. He was wearing a simple black hoodie with a pair of denim blue jeans and a pair of Marvel-themed Vans. He didn’t seem to mind the camera following him while he was talking on the phone.
[Remi Fontaine] “...I know we’re supposed to enjoy winter break in Malibu, but after what happened to Ty… I’m not ready to go yet.”
His mind must’ve been wandering, thoughts of his “big brother” and mentor Ty Buchbinder running through. It was recently discovered that the SAP Owner was admitted into a depression rehabilitation facility in an undisclosed location.
[Remi Fontaine] “...I want to spend time with him. I don’t want him to be alone for the holidays. We’ll still have two weeks left. We can still fly to Malibu and enjoy the time. I’ll talk to Abigail. Considering the situation, I’m sure she’ll understand…”
There was a faraway look in his deep blue eyes. He seemed to know the location of the facility and he was willing to spend part of his winter break with his older brother. As his eyes refocused and he looked up, his movements immediately stopped. A frown crossed his face before he spoke up again.
[Remi Fontaine] “Dad, I have to go…”
He didn’t wait for a response, he simply pressed a button on the screen to end the call. He slid his smartphone into his back pocket and the camera focused over his shoulder to capture the source of his disruption. The source was clear, “The Antagonist” Gabriel Laroux stood in that hallway, his arms folded at his chest. He wore his typical black mesh t-shirt and black leather pants. A completely blank on his face, those lips parted to speak a single word.
[Gabriel Laroux] “Boy.”
Slowly, he started walking forward, each thudding step brought him closer and closer to Remi.
[Gabriel Laroux] “This must be...really good timing.”
In person, Gabriel was intimidating, but despite this Remi didn’t back away or retreat. Rather he stood his ground, pulling both hands out of his hoodie’s pockets, and glared at the older, larger man.
[Remi Fontaine] “What do you want, Gabriel?”
[Gabriel Laroux] “To hear what it sounds like when the voices of the world scream out in unison. To be the last sight someone sees when they take their final breath...”
Another few steps forward would have Gabriel standing in front of the undeterred Remi, those lips curling into a twisted grin.
[Gabriel Laroux] “To have your broken body at my feet...just to name a few things.”
Before letting Remi form an answer, Gabriel extended his arms outwards, seemingly presenting the surroundings to the young man.
[Gabriel Laroux] “This world...it's going to eat you alive, Remi. You're not ready.”
The meek and helpless would be trembling before Gabriel’s presence. Some of them might have run away in sheer terror. Remi, however, was still unmoved. There was a slight change in his expression, a tense glare in his eyes, but beyond that he was courageous, perhaps even a little foolish.
[Remi Fontaine] “Gabriel, you’re not going to scare me with idle threats and parlor tricks. I know the kind of game you play and I’m not falling for it.”
The young man clenched his fists but he remained calm otherwise. His cheekbones tightened up and his eyes narrowed, continuing to stand his ground.
[Remi Fontaine] “Your match against Courtney Leinart was canceled for whatever reason. If you’re looking for a fight, I never back down from a challenge.”
His head tilting to the side, a soft laugh slipped free from behind the curled lips of Gabriel. Shaking his head, his eyes moved to lock down onto Remi.
[Gabriel Laroux] “There's your problem. Children play games, men take action.”
Almost as soon as those words left his mouth, Gabriel lunged forward only to grab Remi around the waist, slamming him harshly into the nearest wall. Remi’s breath was nearly ripped from his body, the impact causing him to yell out in pain. His vision began to blur and it was difficult to breathe in the moment.
[Remi Fontaine] “U-ugh…”
Gabriel’s hands moved to grab the head of Remi, bouncing it off of that wall for good measure. Not letting him hit the ground, Gabriel latched hold of the young man’s right arm, dragging him towards the nearest door and jerking it open.
[Gabriel Laroux] “Merry Christmas, boy.”
Securing his arm in that doorway, Gabriel took a few steps back before running forward, throwing himself into that door, trying to rip his arm apart. The crushing impact shook Remi to the core and he screamed in agony. He collapsed onto the floor and immediately clutched his right arm in pain. Tears welled up from the corners of his eyes as the anguish shot throughout his entire body, his weakened form trembling helplessly.
[Remi Fontaine] “...big… brother…”
Before the Antagonist could make another attack, the SAP security team immediately rushed and forced him away from the fallen boy. A couple of EMT’s ran over to aid Remi and check on his condition, in particular his arm. Once security rushed in, Gabriel provided no resistance, extending his arms outwards with a sickening grin creeping across his features. Not a hint of remorse in his expression, he laughed out as he backed away. While the medical staff helped Remi to sit up slowly, Remi’s eyes were filled with suffering, but beyond the surface was a deep-seated rage. He watched as security created a barricade between him and Gabriel, the camera focused on the injured boy while the wicked laughter of the Antagonist continued to echo in the hall. Slowly the scene began to fade to black.
