A large table is set up inside of the conference room at the Holiday Inn, in Johnstown, New York. Sitting all along it are the SAP roster members that came to today’s press conference. In the middle sits the owner, Ty Buchbinder. He looks over to everyone before he just nods his head and stands up.
Ty is wearing a SAP wrestling t-shirt and a pair of black Nike shorts as he addresses the small crowd in front of him. He smiles as he begins to speak out to them.
“Hello everyone. Welcome to SAP’s first press conference. Today we will reveal our first card. I will also try to keep this as short as possible. It is beautiful outside and I have a visit to the lake in my future today.”
Ty looks over to the roster for a moment.
“For those of you who don’t know there are plenty of lakes around us and I implore you to really go out and check out some of the sites. I’d like you to get as familiar with them as possible.”
Ty turns his attention back to the small group of media.
“Alright first thing is first, the venue. Now when I came up with the idea of SAP I knew I wanted it to be small. I wanted it to be something that was easily accessible for us in the Southern Adirondacks. So when it came time to find a place for the first show it hit me pretty quick. I know some people around here thought we would use one of the high school gyms but for this I actually wanted something smaller. I want this to be as intimate an event as possible. Not just for our fans but for our talent too. So I went with the Johnstown Area Community Center. Now I know some of you are thinking that that place is tiny. Which it is. Nearly all of us have been there for a birthday party, baby or bridal shower, or some other type of get together of that nature. What you don’t know is that a wrestling ring fits in there comfortably, and when the floor is cleared out there’s actually a decent amount of room. For this first event we are only issuing one hundred tickets. Yes that is right, you can quote me. The first show will only have one hundred fans. However I can promise that it will be one of the best live shows those people will have ever seen. The talent we have on this card is stacked. Trust me, SAP is all about small venues and big talent.”
Ty takes a drink of water and then places it back down on the table. His smile is as wide as it can possibly be.
“Now let’s get to what we came here for...the card! I’ll start with the opening contest and work my way to the main event. When we got our first bunch of signings two men were very quick to go at each other on twitter. Those men are Benny Stevens and Vince Steel. Benny is a loveable loudmouth. It’s who he is. Vince Steel on the other hand is a legit monster. I mean look at him.”
Ty turns and points to Vince Steel.
“This guy is the type that you have nightmares about. He’s one of the biggest men I’ve ever seen in my life and I’ve wrestled seven footers. So I hope Benny Stevens is ready for the big man over here because that is the first match. Now there’s a special reason I picked this as the first match. Cause trust me it could be as high up on the card as the main event. But when I thought about how these two kept going on at each other I knew that there was heat there. I knew these two would love to tear into each other. I couldn’t think of a better match to not only start of the night but to start of this company. These two are very important to us at SAP and I can’t wait to see them set the mood for the night.
“In the second match of the evening we have the team of Eligio Noguerra and En Fuego taking on Alisa Rutskaya and Jacob Howlett. This is two of our earliest signings going against two of our newest signings. It’s also a real mix of styles. Eligio and Fuego bring that real exciting lucha style that everyone loves. On the other side you have someone from my adopted home and tough guy from Pittsburgh. Both of those places are no nonsense. It is really going to show that SAP is open to all kinds of wrestling.”
“For the third match we have Melissa Reeves facing off against Tyson Dunn. Melissa is a woman who has really put her body on the line for our great sport. She’s only recently coming back from injury and I’m ready to see her back in the ring. She’s facing off against a guy who I think is a tremendous talent. Tyson breathes strong style. He also can get into that junior heavyweight stuff that everyone loves. I think that these two both have a lot to prove and this is a chance for both of them to do it.”
“Next up we have as much of a contrast of styles that you could ever imagine to see. My main Key over here loves to get the crowd going. He’s a real man of the people. He is out there to have fun and make sure everyone else is having fun with him”
Ty looks over to August Key and flashes a smile before he turns his head to DJ.
“Then over here you have DJ. This woman loves what we do. She really does. She spends a countless amount of hours trying to perfect her craft and be a great technical wrestler. She wants to be remembered for all times. So does Key though. So now we have quite the match. Two people who each want to be great and each have different ideas on how to get there. This match has intensity written all over it.”
“We’re going to follow that match up with one that has a similar flair to it. In one corner you have the ever unpredictable Cody Obayana. Cody loves to trash talk his opponents and try to get in their head. He tries to leave you confused on to what his next move may be. I’d like to see if he can do that against his opponent, “The Tampa Tornado” Amanda Reynolds. Amanda has been a force to be reckoned with whether she is inside of a cage or a ring. She is a woman that you don’t want to mess with. But I think that’s exactly what Cody wants to do. This one should be great to catch live.”
“After that great match you have to follow it up with something that’s just as appealing. This match does that. Our newest signing Missy is a daredevil. Sometimes I think she might just have a deathwish. She has no problem putting her body on the line if it means she is going to walk out of that match the winner. She is going against a true enigma in Roddy X. Roddy X is a man who can talk the talk and walk the walk. He’s also got some of the heaviest hands in the promotion. Roddy X is not a man you want to mess with. He know’s what he’s good at and he’s going to put you in positions where he can exploit that. Missy might have to pull out all the stops if she’s going to try and beat Roddy X.”
“After that we have our semi-main event of the evening. Jessica Sears and Geki Nitoh facing off against Johnny Vivacious and Johnny Coolbreeze. Jessica Sears is a former IPW heavyweight champion. The highest accolade in the company. She is a woman with a heart as big as the Adirondacks and we expect only great things from her. I met Geki during my time with REDEFINE Pro. Both of us weren’t there long but I could tell Geki had talent. A talent he now brings up here. Geki is a unique dude. There’s not many people up here that he could fit in with, well besides the Japanese at the college. However I feel he and Jess can get along perfectly. Johnny Vivacious is coming off a long layover from the ring. However this is a man who knows the business in and out. With over twenty years of experience he may just be SAP’s craftiest wrestler. He was also great enough to represent us in the Total J Cup. Johnny is looking to be a force in SAP and he’s got the background to do it. He’s teaming up with a guy who is new to the business but he really tries hard to have that Fonz factor. Johnny Coolbreeze will tell you he’s even cooler than the other side of the pillow. He’s a big guy with big dreams and that’s what I love about wrestling. He’s working hard to try and figure out where he stands and I’m sure this won’t be his last time at this level of the card. This tag match perfectly sums up who we are at SAP. A great mix of rookies and veterans with all of them out there for their love of wrestling.”
“Well here it is people. Time for me to reveal the first main event in SAP history. Personally I couldn’t be happier with this match. There are plenty of matches I listed already that could have been the main event but this one really does take the cake. We have Seth Lawless and Nick Redfield taking on Sabrina Ramirez and Nina Stokes. What can be said to describe Seth? Well I’ll just be honest. He’s pretty much a dick. But that’s the thing, he loves being an asshole. He loves getting under people’s skin and he loves to be the center of attention. This is giving him all the things he wants. I know Seth has ambitions to be the face of SAP but so doesn’t his tag partner. Nick Redfield comes from the famous Valero wrestling family. A family I have a great deal of respect for. Nick is no slouch but he has a similar attitude to Seth. Nick loves to think he’s wrestling’s next greatest thing. So I’m going to give him chances to prove it. Nick has all the potential in the world. I really want to see him live up to it. Then on the other team we have SAP’s first signing Sabrina Ramirez.”
Ty gives a quick point to Sabrina sitting at the table.
“When Sabrina sent me videos of her training I have to admit I was impressed. She showed a real grasp of what she was doing in the ring. She didn’t look lost or confused. She is definitely a rookie with tons and tons of potential. So I’m giving her the greatest opportunity she could ever get. Sabrina is in the main event in her first match. I want to see how Sabrina can swim with the sharks, however she couldn’t have asked for a better partner. Nina Stokes is a name in this business. No one in this room can deny that. When she offered to be a part of this first show I couldn’t say no. Nor would I ever. Nina has shown time and time again why she is one of the best. I mean she’s the current HKW Lionheart champion and I’d like to thank HKW for letting her participate in this match. Nina is as big of a star as we could hope to get for this show, and I say that with no disrespect to anyone on our roster. Because I know everyone is going to go out there and try to have the match of the night. It’s up to these four to try and beat that. Each of these four have something unique that makes them great competitors. Can Seth and Nick even work together? I mean there’s just so many underlying themes in this match that it’s almost to much to grasp. This is professional wrestling ladies and gentlemen and I couldn’t be happier that is going down in a city where I’ve spent so much of my life.
“I’d like to thank everyone for coming out today. I am now going to open up the floor to the competitors that could make it here for today’s event. We may also try to get some more of our roster via a video feed.”
Ty then sits down and leaves it to the roster.
(You can reply here in this thread or if you aren’t near a computer right now feel free to trash talk with each other on twitter. Good luck everybody!)
