“Mother/Daughter Time”

Ashley Maldano Ft. Lilly Bridges

It’s a hot night..well early morning in Miami and our scene takes place outside the home of the newly crowned North Atlantic Champion, Ashley Maldano. Hearing and realizing that was still something Ashley was trying to get used to, having only just won hours ago.
She didn’t really have time to celebrate very much because her first instinct wasn’t to go out and party, it wasn’t even to call her best friend and brother Boaz or her boyfriend Blake. It wasn’t even to gloat in the former champions face. The only thing Ashley had to do was inside that house sleeping tucked away in her bed safe and sound.
As she inched slowly inside and unlocked the doors before stepping inside, she looked around before keeping herself quiet making sure not to wake anyone. She managed to quickly walk over to reset their alarm, making sure she tiptoed around the toys and shoes on the ground so she didn’t fall. Taking a deep breath in, she nodding to herself admiring her secret ninja skills she clearly possessed in this one moment. With the house being quiet and still, Ashley managed to use the moonlight peaking in through the window to her advantage and trace out her steps making her way to the living room to drop her bags off on the couch. Once the load was lifted off her shoulder, her sore arm rotated, trying her best to loosen up feeling the affects of winning a championship. ”Jesus…” She groans out, shaking her head as she leans forward digging her hands through her bag searching for something.
In the dark something shiny struck her attention and stood out from her bag under her bras and t shirts. It was the one thing that kept her away from her family tonight. The same thing that made her sore in every muscle and every inch of her body. The same thing that took over her tonight and made the world see her in a new light. The SAP North Atlantic Championship.
As she grabbed the belt and picked it up she held onto it tightly not letting go. The feeling of once again holding something of high standard in her hands made her realize that every hardship and piece of bullshit she had to go through to get to this point in her career was nothing but a simple small roadblock in her way trying to keep her down. But the weight in her hands was proof that bullshit ends and the hardships were nothing compared to how she felt in this moment. Dethroning the longest reigning champion was something huge for her and even if the same typical people didn’t want to acknowledge her presence at the top of the SAP chain, it wasn’t going to be something that she let people ignore. This was her shot to redeem herself from her subconscious fail in RISE and make something of not only herself but her soon to be legacy that she will leave in this industry.
As Ashley clutched onto the championship she slowly turned around heading upstairs in their home slowly and quietly walking throughout the house with one place in mind. Her eyes scanned the home taking mental pictures as if she’s trying to keep her memory fresh of every little detail, wanting to soak in the time she had here before she would have to pack up and leave again for another show. That was something that no wrestler with a family wanted to admit but always knew the pain that was there. There is nothing harder than leaving your family more times out of the week than you would like to, but at the end of the day it was something that was understood.
Once she approached the room she didn’t even bother knocking on the half way opened door, softly pushing it in peeking her head inside to look in seeing the Princess themed room dimmed down with a singular white night light shining in the corner of the room. She softly snuck inside, looking at her beautiful young daughter laying sound asleep in her bed looking as peaceful as ever. Ashley smiled softly as she quietly walked closer and closer to her bed, before stopping at the side of it and slides off her gym shoes getting inside laying next to her. Ashley curled in close looking at her daughter, bringing the North Atlantic Championship up close in between them, before holding Lilly tightly as she laid there. ”So beautiful...so perfect. Mommy missed you...she missed you so much, Lil.” She spoke in a tone as sweet as ever, sniffling softly as her eyes started to swell up.
Ashley didn’t look away from her daughter, but turned her head watching as she slept. She looked so peaceful and relaxed, not caring about anything in the world which was exactly how she liked to see her. Deep down she knew Lilly didn’t quite understand why Ashley had to leave a lot of the days for work, but one day she would know just everything her Mom does and did for her. ”Mommy brought home the gold tonight, sweetie. Just like she said she would. Just like you said she would.”
Out of everyone in the world, Lilly was Ashley’s biggest supporter and that was good enough for her. Ash is one of those people who takes their work and feelings home with them and Lilly unfortunately is smart enough to know when something work related is bothering her, so when she wakes up and sees her Mom holding a championship again? It’s no doubt that doughy eyed smile will be plastered on that face. ”You know, Mommy didn’t wanna do anything but come home and see you after winning this. You were the only thought on my mind. I won this for you...for me...for us. I know things have been tough lately, and I know I have been stressed and all in the work mindset lately, but I promise you that I’m doing it for our future baby. For you.” Ashley says, moving her head closer to Lilly’s, kissing the top of her forehead before resting her forehead on hers.
”I love you. Every part of you, you are my world. Everything I do, you’re the number one thought that crosses my mind. I know I’m not a good person. I don’t have the best attitude and I know I am a bi..nevermind that word. Point is, I know that I’m a lot of things, LillyBear, but the one thing I will never be is a bad mother to you. You’re going to have all you want and more. You’re going to grow up strong and independent and better than your Mom here, because someone like you deserves it...and I will do whatever I have to do to make sure you get that.” She nods, before kissing her head again.
As she lays there quietly and closes her eyes, her clutch on the North Atlantic Championship is tighter than before as she closes her eyes. In her head the final moments of her match replays over and over again giving her a constant reminder of how she was feeling the second she heard the bell count and looked up to the ceiling to see her reign begin.
”Mommy? Momma?” A soft voice was heard, making Ashley’s eyes shoot open looking at her daughter, rubbing her eyes looking back at her. ”Mommy when did you get home? Is...is this yours?” She asks, looking down at the belt rubbing her eyes more as she smiles a little wide as Ashley nods. ”Yes, baby. This is OURS. She says, smiling at her. ”I got home a little bit ago, but don’t worry about that. Just know I’m here now. Let’s get some sleep and we can reconnect tomorrow, okay?” She said, making eye contact with her before curling in closer smiling. ”Okay but mommy? Lilly asks, before clearing her throat. ”Promise you’ll be here when I wake up?”
As she spoke those words Ashley’s heart almost melted. She nodded her head and smiled wide, looking at her daughter in the eyes. ”I’m not going anywhere. When you wake up tomorrow I’m going to be in this same spot. I promise you that I will be here baby. Now get some sleep sweet Angel. You need it.” Ashley says as her daughter nods and agrees, holding onto half the championship smiling as Ashley grabs the other half, both of them laying with the belt in between them. As they smile, Ashley watches her daughter slowly drift away to sleep.
”So perfect...so perfect..”
As Ashley watched she smiled, closing her eyes reviewing how lucky she was and how tonight was the start of changes.
